Skin Disease - Eczema, Hives, Allergy, Rash, Psoriasis, Acne
Skin Disease is a general term for abnormal signs
and syptoms of your skin.
Commonly brought up Skin disease or disorders are
Eczema, Hives, Psoriasis, Acne,
Singles, Allergy related Rash.
So, how can Acupuncture and Herbs help me
Let's take a look at the Western Medical approach compared
to Oriental Medicine approach.
Western Medicine sees Skin disorders such as rash, itching,
dermatitis, and eczema commonly occur as a result of oral
ingestion of or direct physical contact with a incompatible
substance. As a result, allergic and hypersensitive reactions
occur either in localized areas or throughout the entire body.
In western medicine, these skin disorders are treated with drugs
that symptomatically relieve itching and irritation. Commonly
used drugs include antihistamines [such as Benadryl (Diphen-
hydramine)] and corticosteroids [such as hydrocortisone].
In most cases, these drugs are used topically for a short period
of time, and are therefore associated with limited side effects.
However, oral use of these drugs is likely to cause more side
effects. Furthermore, it is important to remember that the best
way to avoid allergic skin reactions is to avoid the allergens
whenever possible. [1]
In comparison, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
prospective of Skin disorders such as rash and eczema are
characterized by wind-heat. Certain herbs that treat wind-heat
have been shown to have marked antihistamine effect, and are
excellent to alleviate skin itching and discomfort. Furthermore,
many herbs also have anti-inflammatory effect to reduce swelling
and inflammation. In short, oral ingestion of herbs is very effective
to alleviate signs and symptoms of general skin disorders such as
rash, eczema and dermatitis.[1]
As a result, western drug vs. acupuncture and herbal remedies are
both very effective treatment method for healing skin disorders such
as rash, dermatitis and eczema. However, western drugs tend to have
side effects, where herbs can be used safely and effectively via both
oral and topical administrations.
Here are some nutritional changes that can be made to help your skin
condition!
Avoid seafoods, sushi, duck, goose, onions, garlic,
sugar, alcohol, spicy, fried and greasy food that you may be allergic to.
Many meats and dairy products increase skin irritation by increasing
the acidity of body tissue.
Increase the consumption of flax seed oil to reduce
inflammation will help.
Below are recomendation made by Manural of Oriental Medicine for
different conditions that can treated by nutritional changes.
Psoriasis
Recommendations: Chinese prunes, guava skins, pearl barley, vinegar,
garlic, walnuts, cucumber, beet tops, dandelions, squash, and mung beans.
Take 15 peeled and sliced water chestnuts and 1 vinegar (preferably aged
rice vinegar), slowly simmer in a non-metal pot for 20 minutes until water
chestnuts absorb most of the vinegar. Then mash into a paste and seal in
a jar. Spread evenly on a gauze pad and apply to affected area, changing
daily if not too serious, three times daily if serious condition. Mild cases
should show improvement within 5 days, but serious conditions may take
up to 2 weeks. Avoid spicy food, stimulating food, alcohol, caffeine, smoking,
and excessive sun exposure.
Acne
Recommendations: Apply plain, low fat, no chemical yogurt to the
affected area. Leave on for 20 minutes then wash off.Roast buckwheat,
grind to powder and mix with rice vinegar into a paste, then apply to area.
For oozing acne condition, cover area with pearl barley powder over night,
wash off with water. Avoid: fried foods, fatty or oily foods, spicy foods,
coffee, alcohol, sugar, smoking, stress, constipation, make-up, washing
with chemicals, chocolate, ice cream, soft drinks, and emotional stress.
Eczema
Recommendations: potatoes, broccoli, dandelion, mung bean, seaweed,
pearl barley, corn-silk, water chestnut, winter melon, and watermelon.
Hives
Recommendations: wintermelon rind, chrysanthemum, vinegar, papaya,
ginger, dried prunes, black sesame, black beans, and pearl barley.
Avoid shellfish and allergic foods.
Allergy

citrus fruits, chocolate, shellfish, dairy products, eggs, potatoes,
polluted meats, and polluted air.

High Cholesterol / Triglycerides
With increasing population suffering from obesity and
concerns towards weight gain, we can not simply look
away from the level of
Cholestrol and Triglycerides
peaking the national average. This can significantly increase
the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD). One of the most
common misconceptions is that it is genetics, so it can only be
treated with western drugs. This is not true because diet and
lifestyle changes can is the most effective prevention and
treatment for this concern.
So what can we do about it
Lifestyle Change is MUST DO!
・ Like always, regular excercise is the best way to decrease the
buildup of cholesterol in the arteries and reduce the excess weight
at the same time.
・Avoid the use of alcohol and exposure to tobacco. For those who
have difficulty cutting out alcohol and tobacco completely, effort to
reduce the intake will definately a great start! They can increase
cholesterol buildup and harden of the arteries wall.
・Nutritional changes are very important.
1. Changes to your diet to increase cholesterol-lowering foods.
(garlic, grapefruit, olive oil, apples, bananas, carrots)
2. Vinegar helps to soften the blood vessels and prevent
atherosclerosis, so increase Vinegar intake.
3. Drink tea on a daily basis, especially after meals. It stimulates
elimination function of fatty foods. Recomended tea includes
black, oolong, and green tea.
4. Increase the intake of niacin, vitamin B5, vitamin C, vitamin E,
chromium picolinate, lecithin, and coenzyme Q10. Caution: Do not
overdose on niacin as it may cause stomach pain.
From Oriental Medicine prospective, cholesterol is considered as
an excess deposit of dampness and phlegm in the blood vessels.
To effectively reduce plasma levels of cholesterol and triglycerides,
treatment must focus on dissolving damp, eliminating phlegm, and
invigorating blood circulation.
Acupuncture and Herbal Formula is
very effective in eliminating them.
Let us help you take away your health concern!

Gout/ Acupuncture & Herbs
Gout is considered a form of arthritis that is characterized by
severe pain with sudden onset, swelling, and tenderness due to
inflammation in affected joints. Often, Gout affects the big toe.
However, it can also affect other joints in body such as the knee, ankle,
and foot. Sometimes joints in the upper body (hand, wrist, and elbow) can
be affected. Gout is caused in part by excessive intake of food rich in
uric acid, or decreased excretion of uric acid through the kidneys.
As uric acid deposits in the joints, it causes severe pain known as gout.
At KITADE Wellness Center, our comprehensive formula can treat various
aspects of gout. It incorporates herbs that decrease the absorption and
increase the elimination of uric acid and other unwanted substances.
It contains herbs with analgesic effect to relieve pain, reduce inflammation,
and antipyretic effect to relieve burning sensations.
From Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine prospective,
gout is generally considered a painful obstruction syndrome, due to
damp-heat. Therefore, it is important to remove this damp-heat
obstruction and strong comimitment to nutritional changes that will
decrease intake and lower the level of uric acid in the body.
Let us lead you to Healthier and Pain free lifestyle
