High Cholesterol / Triglycerides

With increasing population suffering from obesity and

concerns towards weight gain, we can not simply look

away from the level of

Cholestrol and Triglycerides

peaking the national average. This can significantly increase

the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD). One of the most

common misconceptions is that it is genetics, so it can only be

treated with western drugs. This is not true because diet and

lifestyle changes can is the most effective prevention and

treatment for this concern.


So what can we do about it


Lifestyle Change is MUST DO!

・ Like always, regular excercise is the best way to decrease the
buildup of cholesterol in the arteries and reduce the excess weight
at the same time.

・Avoid the use of alcohol and exposure to tobacco. For those who
have difficulty cutting out alcohol and tobacco completely, effort to
reduce the intake will definately a great start! They can increase
cholesterol buildup and harden of the arteries wall.

・Nutritional changes are very important.
1. Changes to your diet to increase cholesterol-lowering foods.
(garlic, grapefruit, olive oil, apples, bananas, carrots)

2. Vinegar helps to soften the blood vessels and prevent
atherosclerosis, so increase Vinegar intake.

3. Drink tea on a daily basis, especially after meals. It stimulates
elimination function of fatty foods. Recomended tea includes
black, oolong, and green tea.

4. Increase the intake of niacin, vitamin B5, vitamin C, vitamin E,
chromium picolinate, lecithin, and coenzyme Q10. Caution: Do not
overdose on niacin as it may cause stomach pain.


From Oriental Medicine prospective, cholesterol is considered as

an excess deposit of dampness and phlegm in the blood vessels.

To effectively reduce plasma levels of cholesterol and triglycerides,

treatment must focus on dissolving damp, eliminating phlegm, and

invigorating blood circulation.
