Sciatica & Acupuncture

Suffering from Sciatic Pain?

Sciatica

Sciatica isn't a disorder in and of itself. Instead, sciatica

is a symptom of another problem involving the nerve, such as a

herniated disk. [1]

In many case, sciatica is associated with pain that radiates from

your lower back / spine to your buttock (and / or) down the back

of your leg. It is common to see pain or discomfort along this nerve

pathway down to calf area.

The pain can vary widely, from a mild ache to a sharp, burning

sensation or excruciating discomfort. Sometimes it may feel like

a jolt or electric shock. It may be worse when you cough or sneeze,

and prolonged sitting also can aggravate symptoms. Usually only one

lower extremity is affected. [1]

From Oriental Medicine approach, we can subdivide the symptoms

of Sciatica in several different categories:

1. Qi and blood Stagnation (Mild to Severe)
2. Coldness and deficiency of the lower back
3. Qi and blood stagnation with phlegm formation

With Acupuncture and Herbal Formula,

it can effectively be treated to eliminate the pain. Depending of

the underlying problem and area of sciatic pain, Acupuncture points

are selected accordingly to control the pain. Sameway, Herbs will

be formulated to suite indivisual needs to control and treat the

sciatic pain.
