TMJ
TMJ is a common condition seen in many Dentist offices,
especially in young and middle aged people. Most of the time,
it happens on one side. Some cases starts from one side but
gradually involve the other side as well due to lack of function
on other side.
The main symptom are pain in front of the ear and difficulty
opening the mouth. The joint has a clinking sound with pain
opening the mouth and tenderness on palpation.
In Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine , TMJ is considered to
be Bi Syndrome which is often associated with joint disease.
This occurs in case of TMJ because qi and blood in
acupuncture meridian loses the nourishment it needs to
promote healthy function in the area. In western prospective,
it means the blood and circulation is stagnated causing
depletion of nourishment to TMJ.
Acupuncture and Point Injection Therapy using herbs and
analgesic can quickly subside the pain and provide the original
healthy function of TMJ .
