Age Related Mal-Absorption
One explanation for the aging process is that
as we grow older, we lose our ability to produce
enzymes and extract nutrition from food.
Patients with age realted mal-absorption has
reduced intracellular nutrient lebels to a critial
level. For these people, partial parenteral nutrition
will be required until intracellular nutrient levels
are maintain by oral supplementation.
There are several factorys that may cause Vitamin
Insufficiency:
1. Inadequate indestion of vitamine
2. Impaired absorption
3. Inadequate utilization
4. Increased metabolic requirement
5. Increased excretion
6. Increased destruction within the body
There are groups of people who are more vulnerable
